A mixture of 2,2-dimethylmorpholine (260 mg, 2.26 mmol) and 3-oxoazetidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (464 mg, 2.71 mmol) in DCE (15 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 2 h before the addition of sodium triacetoxyborohydride (957 mg, 4.52 mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred for 16 h, then diluted with DCM and washed with H2O. The organic phase was dried (phase separator) and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by column chromatography (Si—PCC, EtOAc:cyclohexane, 0-40%) affording the title compound as an oil (492 mg, 81%). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz): δ 3.95-3.85 (m, 2H); 3.80-3.71 (m, 4H); 3.07-2.88 (m, 1H); 2.32-2.22 (m, 2H); 2.14-2.06 (m, 2H); 1.44 (s, 9H); 1.25 (s, 6H).
