Procedure
A solution of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (182 mg, 4.3 mmol) in water (1.5 mL) was added to a solution of methyl 3-[1-[(dimethylamino)sulfonyl]-4-(2,2-dimethylbutyl)-1H-imidazol-2-yl]propanoate (for synthesis see intermediate 25) (500 mg, 1.4 mmol) in methanol (1.6 mL) and THF (1.6 mL). After stirring at rt overnight, the reaction mixture was concentrated and 2M hydrochloric acid was added. The resulting reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness to afford the title compound, which was used without further purification.
