Procedure

To a mixture of 6-chloro-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-2,2-dimethyl-7-nitro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (compound obtained in Reference Example 50(2); 200 mg), potassium carbonate (236 mg), tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (66 mg) and dioxane (2 mL) was added trimethylboroxin (80 μL) under argon atmosphere, and the mixture was refluxed under heating for 18 hours. After cooling, the reaction mixture was filtered through a celite pad, and the insolubles were washed with tetrahydrofuran. The filtrate and the washings were combined and concentrated in vacuo. The resultant residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (solvent; n-hexane/ethyl acetate=9/1) to give 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-2,2,6-trimethyl-7-nitro-2H-1,4-benzoxazin-3(4H)-one (10 mg) as a pale yellow powder.
