To a solution of ethyl 2-(2-cyano-4-fluoro-5-nitrophenyl)acetate in methanol and EtOAc (1:1, 10 mL) was added 10% Pd/C. The solution was stirred under H2 (1 arm) at RT for 3 days. The solution was filtered and evaporated to obtain ethyl 2-(5-amino-2-cyano-4-fluorophenyl)acetate (0.21 g, 81% yield).
