To a stirring solution of ethyl 3-tert-butyl-1-(3-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylate (0.786 g, 2.71 mmol) in 1:1:1 THF/EtOH/H2O (36 ml) at RT was added LiOH.H2O (0.568 g, 13.5 mmol). After stirring at RT overnight, the reaction mixture was diluted with 3M HCl (30 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3×50 mL). The combined organic layers were washed with brine (2×30 mL), dried (MgSO4) and concentrated to afford 3-tert-butyl-1-(3-fluorophenyl)-1H-pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid (0.602 g, 85% yield) as white solid. MS (ESI) m/z: 263 (M+H+).
