Procedure
A solution of 8-chloro-1,2,3,3a,5,9b-hexahydrocyclopenta[c]quinolin-4-one (200 mg, 0.9 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 ml) is stirred with trimethyloxonium tetrafluoroborate (134 mg, 0.9 mmol) for 24 hours at room temperature. After triethylamine (0.13 ml, 0.9 mmol) is added, the batch is concentrated by evaporation and purified by column chromatography (SiO2, 40% moist) with ethyl acetate-hexane: 180 mg (85%) of product.
