Procedure
To the solution of the compound prepared in Example 17 (a) (2 g) in THF (50 ml) was added an aqueous solution (50 ml) of sodium hydroxide (240 mg), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 20 minutes. After THF was evaporated under reduced pressure, the concentrated reaction mixture was acidified to pH 3.5 with 5N hydrochloric acid. Crystals deposited were collected by filtration and dried to give 1.21 g of [[4-[[[(5-t-butoxycarbonyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothieno[3,2-c]pyridin-2-yl)carbonyl]amino]acetyl]-o-phenylene]dioxy]diacetic acid.
