A mixture of [8-chloro-4-methyl-2-oxo-3-(4-pyrazol-1-ylbenzyl)-1,2-dihydroquinolin-5-yloxy]acetic acid methyl ester (0.35 g), potassium carbonate (0.33 g), iodomethane (0.50 mL) and N,N-dimethylformamide (5.0 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The mixture was diluted with water, acidified by the addition of glacial acetic acid and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, dried over magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford title compound as a cream solid (0.37 g).
