Procedure
To a solution of 2-(4-isopropylpiperazin-1-yl)benzothiazole-6-carboxaldehyde (0.5 g, 1.73 mmol) and AcOH (11 mg, 0.173 mmol) in THF (5 mL), morpholine (0.31 mL, 3.46 mmol) and NaCNBH3 (132 mg, 2.08 mmol) were added in turn. The reaction mixture was heated at 63° C. for 12 hours. The solvent was removed and the residue was extracted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and brine and dried (MgSO4). The volatiles were evaporated and the residue was purified by preparative HPLC to yield 130 mg (21%) of 2-(4-isopropylpiperazin-1-yl)-6-(morpholin-4-ylmethyl)benzothiazole as a trifluoroacetate salt.
