A mixture of trans-4-(4-indazol-1-ylpyrimidin-2-ylamino)-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid ethyl ester (2.88 g, 7.9 mmol), aqueous NaOH (2 M, 65 mL) and THF (65 mL) was stirred overnight. MeOH (40 mL) was added, and the reaction mixture stirred for an additional 105 min. Aqueous HCl (1M) was added to reach pH 3, and the resulting solid collected by filtration to give trans-4-(4-indazol-1-yl-pyrimidin-2-ylamino)-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid (2.739 g) without further purification.
