6.00 g (23.5 mmol) of 4-Hydroxy-1-trifluoromethyl-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid methoxy-methyl-amide (69) were dissolved in 20 ml of CH2Cl2 and 6.8 ml of 2,6-lutidine were added. Afterwards, 6.48 ml (28.2 mmol) of tert-butyldimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate were added at 0° C. and the mixture allowed to stand at ambient temperature for 16 h. The mixture was then diluted using 30 ml of CH2Cl2 and washed successively twice using 30 ml of water, twice using 30 ml of a 0.1; N aqueous HCl-solution and once using 30 ml of a saturated aqueous NaHCO3-solution respectively. The organic layer was then dried over MgSO4 and evaporated to yield 8.40 g. Rt=0.99 min (Method Q).
