A mixture of 1.0 g of the product of Step 6 was dissolved in 45 ml THF, 30 ml of MeOH and 15 ml of water, followed by 15 ml of 1N aqueous LiOH solution. After stirring for 5 h at room temperature, 2 ml of AcOH was added and the mixture was extracted with 150 ml of EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with 50 ml of brine and dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated to give 0.9 g of the title compound as a white solid.
