Procedure

The compound (100 mg, 0.12 mmol) obtained in Step 2 above was dissolved in a mixed solvent of acetonitrile (1.5 ml) and water (1.5 ml), iodobenzene diacetate (88 mg, 0.26 mmol) and 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl (20 mg, 0.12 mmol) were added and the resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. Aqueous sodium thiosulfate solution (4 ml) was added, followed by extraction with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue obtained was purified by silica gel chromatography [chloroform:methanol=40:1→10:1 (v/v)] to give the title compound (58 mg, 59%) as a colorless solid.
