1,1'-Carbonyldiimidazole (16.2 g) was added to a stirred suspension of 4-benzyloxyphenoxyacetic acid (25.8 g) in dry THF (350 ml) and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours. 1-(3-Aminopropyl)imidazole (12.5 g) was added and the mixture was stirred for a further 18 hours. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate evaporated to give a residue which was treated as in Example 9a to give 2-(4-benzyloxyphenoxy)-N-[3-(imidazol-1-yl)propyl] acetamide m.p. 112°-113° C.
