A solution of 3-azidomethyl-5-chloro-4-(tetrahydro-pyran-2-yloxymethyl)-pyridine (0.46 g, 1.6 mmol) and triphenylphosphine (0.43 g, 1.6 mmol) in THF (15 mL) and H2O (0.15 mL) was stirred at RT overnight. Solvents were concentrated in vacuo and the residue was partitioned between DCM (10 mL) and saturated NaHCO3 solution (10 mL). After extraction of the aqueous layer with DCM (2×10 mL) the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting title compound was used for the next reaction without purification. MS (m/z): 256.8 [M+H+].
