tert-Butyl 4-(methylsulfonyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzylcarbamate (420 mg, 1.18 mmol) was dissolved in CH2Cl2 (12 ml) and HCl in Et2O (3 ml, 2M) were added. Resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight followed by evaporation to give 4-(methylsulfonyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzylamine hydrochloride as white solids. This material was used in subsequent reactions without further purification.
