Procedure

tert-Butyl 3-cyano-4-(4,4-dimethylpiperidin-1-yl)benzylcarbamate (250 mg, 0.73 mmol) was dissolved in Et2O (10 ml). HCl (2.0 M in Et2O)(10 ml) was added to the solution. The mixture was stirred for 36 h. The solvents were removed and the residue was used without further purification.
