To a stirred solution of [3-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-5-((E)-styryl)-isoxazol-4-yl]-methanol (4.0 g, 13.5 mmol) and 5-hydroxy-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (2.49 g, 14.9 mmol) in THF (130 mL) under argon was added triphenylphosphine (5.49 g, 20.31 mmol). Diethyl azodicarboxylate (9.3 mL, 20.31 mmol) was then added dropwise. After 3 h the reaction mixture was concentrated then purified by chromatography (silica, 10 to 40% ethyl actetate in heptane) afforded the title compound (2.85 g, 47%) as a white solid. MS: m/e=445.4 [M+H]+.
