Potassium carbonate (743 mg, 5.38 mmol) in water (1.00 mL) was added to a stirred solution of 3c (0.896 mmol) in MeOH (3.00 mL) at rt. After approximately 1 h, the reaction mixture was poured into saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and extracted three times with EtOAc. The combined organic extracts were washed with water, brine, dried (sodium sulfate) and concentrated in vacuo. The crude residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel (gradient elution; 0%-6% MeOH/DCM as eluent) to furnish the title compound 3d. m/z (ES) 431 (MH)+. 1HNMR. (500 MHz, CD3OD): δ 8.55 (d, 1H, J=3.3 Hz), 8.28 (d, 1H, J=2.7 Hz), 7.94 (d, 2H, J=8.5 Hz), 7.88 (dt, 1H, J=1.7, 7.7 Hz), 7.61 (d, 1H, J=7.8 Hz), 7.48 (d, 2H, J=8.5 Hz), 7.35 (m, 3H), 5.23 (s, 2H), 3.08 (m, 1H, J=6.6 Hz), 1.70 (s, 3H), 0.86 (d, 3H, J=6.6 Hz), 0.80 (d, 3H, J=6.6 Hz).
