Procedure

To a solution of 232 mg of alcohol 16b in 10 ml of ether was added 1 ml of triethyl amine, followed at 0° C. by 80 μl of mesyl chloride. The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 1 hr and then poured into water and extracted into ether. The organic extract was washed with water, dried and concentrated, to give 320 mg of 16c as a colorless oil.
