Procedure

NaH (60%, 0.70 g, 17 mmol), 65 (3.5 g, 14.5 mmol), and 1,4-dibromobutane (37.6 g, 174 mmol) in DMF (40 mL) were combined and worked up by the method of 43. Excess 1,4-dibromobutane was removed by a Kugelrohr apparatus under high vacuum. Column chromatography (7:1 hexane/EtOAc) produced 5.21 g (95%) of 67 as an oil: NMR δ 0.79 (t, 3 H, J=7), 1.46-1.54 (m, 2 H), 1.64-1.78 (m, 4 H), 2.30 (s, 3 H), 2.60 (s, 6 H), 3.11 (t, 2 H, J=7), 3.21 (t, 2 H, J=7), 3.31 (t, 2 H, J=7), 6.93 (s, 2 H). Anal. (C16H26BrNO2S) C, H, N.
