3-Bromocyclohexene (7.06 g) and sodium bicarbonate (3.68 g) were added to a solution of (R)-(+)-2-oxo-3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-2H-1,5-benzodiazepine (6.08 g) in anhydrous N,N-dimethylformamide (50 ml), and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for one hour. The reaction mixture was allowed to cool, ice-water was added, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure,the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography(ethyl acetate:n-hexane=1:3), to thereby obtain 7.84 g of the titled compound.
