To a suspension of the compound of Example 1 (120 mg, 0.6 mmol) and potassium carbonate (246 mg, 1.8 mmol) in dimethylformamide (4 ml) was added chloromethyl pivalate (215 μl, 1.5 mmol) and the reaction mixture stirred at room temperature overnight. Water (10 ml) was added and the mixture then extracted with ethyl acetate (2×10 ml). The organic layers were combined, washed with water (10 ml) and brine (10 ml), dried (MgSO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in acetonitrile (2 ml) and purified by automated preparative liquid chromatography (Gilson system, 150 mm×21.2 mm LUNA C18(2) 5 μm column) using an acetonitrile:water gradient [50:50 to 95:5]. The appropriate fractions were concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (136 mg).
