DIPEA (4.06 g, 23.4 mmol) was added to a suspension of 3-[((1S)-2-{[(1,1-dimethylethyl)(dimethyl)silyl]oxy}-1-methylethyl)oxy]-5-[(phenylmethyl)oxy]benzoic acid (2.43 g, 5.84 mmol), 3-amino-1-methylpyrazole (0.85 g, 8.76 mmol) and HATU (4.66 g, 12.3 mmol) in DMF (50 mL) and stirred at ambient temperature for 16 hours. The resultant mixture was partially reduced in vacuo, poured onto water (100 mL) and extracted with diethyl ether (2×50 mL). The extracts were washed with water and brine then dried (MgSO4), filtered and reduced to an opaque gum which partially crystallized. The crude product was purified by column chromatography, eluting with 0-100% ethyl acetate in isohexane, to give the title compound as a colourless oil (1.87 g).
