12 g of the product of Step A in 240 cm3 of ethyl acetate were hydrogenated in the presence of 2.4 g of 10% palladium hydroxide on barium sulfate and 2.4 cm3 of quinoline. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was evaporated to dryness to obtain 11 g of tert.-butyl (1R,cis) 2,2-dimethyl-3-[(Z)-2-(methoxy carbonyl)-ethenyl]-cyclopropane carboxylate.
