trans-{4-[2-(4-Furo[3,2-c]pyridin-4-yl-piperazin-1-yl)-ethyl]-cyclohexyl}-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (2.9 g, 7 mmol) was treated with 1 N HCl in EtOAc (100 ml, 100 mmol) and MeOH (1.9 ml) and the resulting mixture was stirred over night at room temperature. A white precipitate was formed that was collected by filtration and washed with EtOAc. The solid was dried over night under high vacuum to yield trans-4-[2-(4-furo[3,2-c]pyridin-4-yl-piperazin-1-yl)-ethyl]-cyclohexylamine trihydrochloride as a white powder (2.9 g, 96%), MS (ISP) m/z=329.1 [(M+H)+].
