Procedure

To 4-[4-(3-ethoxycarbonyl-propionyl)-phenoxy]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (2.68 g, 6.61 mmol) in 2-propanol (25 mL) was added hydrazine monohydrate (0.662 g, 13.2 mmol). After overnight stirring at 120° C., the reaction was concentrated down, partitioned between dichloromethane/water, washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, and concentrated under vacuum to obtain 2.18 g product (88%); MS m/z 374 (M+H).
