Procedure
In a 250 mL round bottom flask, 4-[4-(3-ethoxycarbonyl-propionyl)-3-fluoro-phenoxy]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (4.1 g, 9.68 mmol), and hydrazine monohydrate (0.97 mL, 19.4 mmol), in isopropanol (100 mL) was heated to reflux 14 h. The reaction was cooled and the solvent concentrated under vacuum. Purification with silica gel chromatography eluting with methylene chloride/methanol (95:5) produced 945 mg (25%). Mp 146-148° C. MS m/z 392 (M+H).
