A suspension of 1.5 g (5.34 mmol) of 2-amino-7-chloro-1-ethyl-N-methyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxamide in 30 ml of a DMF/Et3N (v/v; 2/1) mixture is placed in an 80 ml microwave tube. Argon is sparged into this suspension for 10 minutes and then 1.37 g of (±)-3,4-dimethoxy-3-methylbut-1-yne (10.69 mmol), 0.101 g of CuI (0.53 mmol) and 0.187 g of bis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(II)dichloride (0.27 mmol) are successively added.
