A solution of ethyl-2-[4-[[5-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]acetyl]-1-piperazinyl]-4-thiazolecarboxylate (0.83 g, 1.93 mmol) (i.e. the product of Example 30, Step C) in a mixture of methanol (10 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) was treated with a 1 N aqueous NaOH solution (4.0 mL, 4.0 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h, then treated with 1 N aqueous hydrochloric acid solution (4.5 mL, 4.5 mmol). The resulting mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the resulting suspension was diluted with dichloromethane and filtered to give solid. The resulting solid was washed with dichloromethane and diethyl ether, and air dried to give 0.64 g of the title compound as a white solid.
