To a solution of 4-[3-(1-methyl-1H-benzoimidazol-2-yl)-phenyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.30 g, 3.32 mmol) in MeOH (4 mL) was added 2M HCl in Et2O (9 mL) and the resulting solution was stirred for 6 h at room temperature.
