A mixture of N-benzyl piperazine dihydrochloride (2.49 g, 10 mmol), K2CO3 (4.14 g, 30 mmol) and 2-bromo-1-(4-chlorophenyl)ethanone (2.8 g, 12 mmol) in 100 ml of acetone was refluxed for 5 hours, and then treated according to general preparation 2 to give 2.76 g of compound (IV-6), yield 68.7%, mp 231-233° C. M+ 328.
