25 g (55.24 mmoles) of Z-Thr(But)-Ser(But)-OH are dissolved in 200 ml of methanol and are hydrogenated catalytically (at pH 4.5) using an autotitrator, with addition of a solution of HCl in methanol. After completion of the hydrogenation, the Pd/BaSO4 catalyst is filtered off, the filtrate is concentrated and the residue is dried in a high vacuum. Yield 1.1 g of an amorphous product
