Dess-Martin periodinane (39.4 mmol, 2.1 eq) is added to a solution of (1S,3S,5S)-3-hydroxymethyl-2-aza-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (18.8 mmol, 1.0 eq) in DCM (300 mL). After 2 h sat. NaHCO3 solution and aqueous Na2S2O3 solution are added, the layers are separated and the aqueous layer is extracted twice with DCM. The combined organic layers are washed twice with NaOH solution (1.0 M), water and brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo to give the desired product as an orange oil which is used without further purification.
