To a solution of (aminomethyl)trimethylsilane (Fluka) (1.03 g, 10 mmol) in dichloromethane (50 mL) was added 3-chloro-2-fluoro-benzaldehyde (Oakwood) (1.6 g, 10 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Water was added. The organic layer was separated, washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, and concentrated to give [1-(3-chloro-2-fluoro-phenyl)-meth-(E)-ylidene]-trimethylsilanylmethyl-amine as a colorless oil (2.4 g, 99%).
