Procedure

1.2 g (11.1 mmol) of phenylhydrazine was dissolved in 20 ml of dichloromethane and 1.24 g (11.1 mmol) of 3-oxa-bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane-2,4-dione were added. The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The precipitated product was isolated by filtration and washed with dichloromethane. Yield: 1.85 g.
