A mixture of 1-[(3,4-dihydro-2-naphthalenyl)methyl]-4-anilino isonipecotamide (5.0 g) and formamide (18 g) is heated for 12 hours at 170° C. The reaction mixture is cooled, diluted with water (100 ml), and extracted with chloroform. The chloroform solution is dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated to give crude product. Trituration with ethyl acetate produces the title compound.
