A mixture of 0.75 g (2.68 mmol) of 1-cyclopropyl-6,7-difluoro-1,4-dihydro-5-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid, 1.07 g (10.4 mmol) of 2-methylpiperazine and 30 ml of acetonitrile was refluxed for five hours, then stirred at room temperature overnight. The precipitate was filtered, washed with water/ethanol and acetonitrile, and dried to give 0.42 g of the title compound, mp 189°-192° C.
