To 3 mmol of the sulfinyl compound from Step A in acetic acid (40 mmol) is added 30% hydrogen peroxide (2 ml). The mixture is stirred at ambient temperature and assayed by TLC. Upon disappearance of the sulfinyl starting compound, the reaction mixture is diluted with dichloromethane, washed with dilute aqueous sodium bisulfite and water, dried and evaporated to give 4-(4-(2-quinolinylmethylsulfonyl)phenoxymethyl)benzoic acid.
