5k (890 mg, 2.4 mmol) and 3-mercaptopropionic acid 2-ethylhexyl ester (630 mg, 2.9 mmol) were dissolved in 1,4-dioxane (20 mL) and degassed with N2 for 10 minutes. iPr2NEt (0.86 mL, 4.8 mmol), Pd2dba3 (54 mg, 0.06 mmol), and 4,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)-9,9-dimethylxanthene (69 mg, 0.12 mmol) were added, and the mixture was degassed with N2 for an additional 10 minutes. The reaction was heated to 90° C. until no starting material was seen by tlc analysis, and then the mixture was concentrated and purified by silica gel chromatography to give the desired product, 5m.
