Potassium carbonate (148 mg, 1.07 mmol) and allyl bromide (0.091 ml, 1.1 mmol) were successively added to a solution of allyl (3′-fluoro-4′-{[2-formyl-3-hydroxy-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]oxy}-1,1′-biphenyl-4-yl)acetate (476 mg, 0.975 mmol) obtained in Example (12-4) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 ml), and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 1.5 hours. After the reaction mixture was poured into water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, the organic layer was successively washed with water and a saturated aqueous NaCl solution and dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate. The residue obtained by removing the solvent under reduced pressure was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluting solvent: n-hexane/ethyl acetate=3/1) to give allyl (4′-{[3-(allyloxy)-2-formyl-4-(trifluoromethyl)benzyl]oxy}-3′-fluoro-1,1′-biphenyl-4-yl)acetate (122 mg, yield: 24%).
