Procedure

6-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-indole (72.5 mg, 0.45 mmol) was mixed with Et3N (126 mg, 1.35 mmol) in 2 ml of dichloromethane at 0 to 5° C. Methane sulfonyl chloride (61.6 mg, 0.54 mmol) was added and the mixture stirred for 1 hr, diluted with dichloromethane, washed with brine, dried and concentrated to give 107 mg of the title compound (quantitative yield).
