Procedure

A solution of tert-butyl (3R)-3-[3-(aminomethyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl]-6-cyclohexylhexanoate (preparation 18) (219 mg, 0.62 mmol) in THF (10 ml) was treated with AcCl (53 μl, 0.75 mmol) and stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. More AcCl (200 μl) was added and stirred for a further hour. Sat. NaHCO3 solution was added and the layers separated. The organic extract was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and filtered. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford the title compound as a colourless oil (247 mg, 100%).
