1 g of 3-(2,6-difluorophenyl)-[1,2,4]triazin-6(1H)-one is placed in 20 ml of dioxane and at room temperature 0.73 g of POCl3 is added. Then, within a period of 5 min, 0.48 g of triethylamine in 3 ml of dioxane is added dropwise and stirring is carried out at room temperature for 30 min. The reaction mixture is then poured into ice-water and extracted with ethyl acetate, and the organic phase is separated off and concentrated. In this way 6-chloro-3-(2,6-difluorophenyl)-[1,2,4]triazine is obtained in the form of a yellow oil. The crude product is reacted further without purification.
