Methyl iodide (0.27 mL, 4.3 mmol) was added to a mixture of benzyl 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate (0.7 g, 2 mmol) and cesium carbonate (1.4 g, 4.3 mmol) in DMF (5.0 mL) and then the reaction was stirred at r.t. for 1 h. LCMS showed the reaction was complete. The mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on a silica gel column with ethyl acetate in hexane (0-10%) to afford the desired product. LCMS (M+H)+: m/z=342.2.
