A mixture of methyl 3-oxohexanoate (2.1 g) and dimethylformamide dimethylacetal (2.1 mL) was stirred at 100° C. for 12 hr, and the mixture was allowed to cool. To the reaction mixture were added ethanol (50 mL) and hydrazine monohydrate (0.75 mL). In the same manner as in Example 1(3), a crude product of methyl 3-propyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylate was obtained. This was dissolved in dimethylformamide (20 ml), potassium carbonate (3.0 g) and 2-chloro-5-trifluoromethylpyridine (2.7 g) were added, and the mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 2 hr. In the same manner as in Example 1(4), the title object compound (3.3 g, 71%) was obtained as a white solid.
