A mixture of methanesulfonic acid 3-(2-chloro-4-morpholin-4-yl-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-6-yl)-prop-2-ynyl ester (150 mg), potassium carbonate (64 mg), N-methylpiperazine (45 μL) and acetonitrile (5 ml) were stirred at 50° C. for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was then cooled, diluted with dichloromethane, washed with brine, dried (MgSO4) and the solvents reduced in vacuo to yield 2-chloro-6-[3-(4-methyl-piperazin-1-yl)-prop-1-ynyl]-4-morpholin-4-yl-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidine (101 mg).
