Procedure
To a solution of THP oxamate 6 (0.035 g, 0.1 mmol) in THF (1 mL) was added 2N HCl (1 mL) and stirred at room temperature for 6 h. The reaction solvent was removed under a reduced pressure and the resulting aqueous solution was diluted with water. The precipitated solid was filtered, washed with water and dried to give the desired oxamic acid 7. 1H NMR (CDCl3): δ 8.80 (s, 1H), 8.64 (bd, 1H), 8.06 (d, 1H, J=8.1 Hz), 7.70 (dd, 1H, J=2.4 and 8.7 Hz), LCMS (ret. time): 20.47 min.; MS (m/z): 264 (MH+).
