Procedure

To a flask containing 27.1 (0.900 g, 2.99 mmol) and cesium carbonate (1.27 g, 3.88 mmol) in 8 mL of DMF was added benzyl bromide (0.43 mL, 3.59 mmol), and the resulting mixture was stirred overnight. The reaction was diluted with water and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, concentrated, and then purified by silica gel chromatography (0 to 20% EtOAc/Hexanes) to provide 27.2 (1.00 g, 86% yield).
