Procedure
180 mg of (3-{4-[3-[3-(tert-butyldimethylsilanyloxy)-3-(4-fluorophenyl)propyl]-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-oxoazetidin-2-yl]phenoxy}propyl)trimethylammonium bromide are dissolved in 10 ml of methanol. 1 ml of a 0.1 M aqueous HCl solution is then added, and the reaction solution is stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture is neutralized with dilute aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution and concentrated using a rotary evaporator. The residue is purified using a 10 g SiO2 cartridge (dichloromethane/methanol 5:1). The product is obtained as a hygroscopic solid. C30H35BrF2N2O3 (589) MS (ESI): M+-80
